starting a hyper .21

Hey guys got a problem with the .21 hyper engine. Can't get her to turn over keeps sticking at top. I have lossend the plug and even taken it out. There is no pull start on the new PBS, it has the starter box. I got a new Ofna box because the one that comes with it is crap. I have used a hair drier on it and still trouble. It will turn over the odd time if I heat it and pull the plug. So the question is will I damage the engine if I put some WD-40 or something directly in to the cylinder and try to crank the crap out of it with the plug out, and if this would work how much should I put in there. Would like to have some input before I do this incase it is a bad idea.

Dang man, I've never heard of anyone having THAT much trouble.

Your best bet would be to put some after run oil, or Marvel Mystery Oil in there. But only put a few drops, too much could foul out your plug.

If it's getting STUCK hard at the top with the glowplug out, I'd consider that the engine may be damaged or defective.

Even a brand new engine should not bind that hard at any point of the piston travel when the plug is out. It should be REALLY easy to turn over, since there's zero compression.

If you got it at a LHS, bring it to them and see what they think. If it's an online zero support thing, try calling the engine manfacturer. If all else fails, pull off the cooling head and take a close look to see if you can see what's causing it to get stuck.

Well I finally not it to turn over with WD-40 in the cylinder hole (a couple of drops) and a lot of heat but know I am getting some were. Know I just need to get it to prime. Is it possible to get a vapor lock in these carbs? I put my finger over the exauhst port but the fuel won't go very far. If so how do you get rid of it. Yes I got it at my lhs but the local is about 50 miles away, closest one.

Thats what you would like to think anyway... lol My NIB Hyper 8 port with pullstart, was even hard to pull with no plug installed... When it's brand new, I dont think its the compression so much that makes it hard to turn over, but the tight tolerances of the piston/sleeve that need to be worn in..

WD40 will not necessarily be a bad idea but it might make it harder to start as it will increase compression. I'd suggest using the fuel you have, make sure your starter batteries are fully charged and loosening the glow plug.

Remove the glow plug, drop some marvals mystery oil in the chamber ( about 5-7 drops ), put your buggy on top of your starter box and let it turnover for about 1-2 minutes without the glow plug installed. I did this to a .21 sirio motor and it fired-up after I did this. Hope this helps.

An easy way to prime it at first is to take the fuel tube off of your exhaust pipe and blow into it lightly. You'll see the fuel go through the line, and just as it gets to the carb, stop (you only want a tiny bit to go into the carb).

Once you get your enigine broken in you can put your finger over the stinger and turn it over on the starter box.

You can also get some surgical tubing, place one end on the stinger and blow. You should see the fuel moving through the fuel line. Stop blowing once it hits the carb.

It is harder to get fuel into the carb when you pre heat the engine. The alcohol will start to boil when it hits the hot carb, pushing the liquid backwards. When it gets real tough to prime I blow in the tube while turning over the engine to force some fuel down the throat. I heat up everything - I would heat my chevy if I though it would do anything!
