diff grease

ok after a very hard bashing weekend i tore apart my hyp 7 pcr.and i was suprised when i took off the front and rear diffs.and the only thing that seals them is the chassie.no seals ?...but any way.how much greese should be in there.pack it or half/ 1/4?.there is some in there but not much..... i don't want to put in back togeather w/out knowing....

Your just looking at the bottom of the case. You will see the diff inside there. The gear you are seeing, doesn't get grease, or maybe a very tiny dab. If you take the case apart, you will find a sealed diff. Usually 4 screws will open up the diff. There, you should find that the cup is filled just over the spider gear pin with Silicone oil or grease.

Aww, I wanted to see what happened when he packed the gearbox halfway full with grease =)

Yeah, the first time I pulled mine apart the amount of grease on the outside of the diff was about as much toothpaste you'd put on your toothbrush.
I always wondered why they'd put grease here. It's the same as your spur gear/clutbell and there's no grease there.....

My guess is that it doesn't hurt. Grease reduces friction so it's good to have lubrication wherever metal touches metal.
