kanai 3 clutch shoes

CAN ANY1 TELL ME WHY TO NOT USE THE ALUMINUM CLUTCH SHOES IN THE K 3? IVE BEEN GETTING THIS INFO FROM SEVERAL PEOPLE, SEEMS THEY HEARD IT FROM SOMEWHERE ALSO. SO IF ANY1 HAS AN EXPLANATION PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

I hear that they are too soft and develop burrs which make them hang up. I am going to try them and see what happens. I have a Fioroni sliding turbo clutch on order, so if the Kyosho shoes don't work out I'll put the Fioroni on. If the Kyosho's work alright then the Fioroni will be for the future.

So, aluminum clutch shoes are softer then the normal material they are made out of? The ones on my storm are brownish and you could slice into one with a knife.

Probably going to grab the Fiorioni clutch since it's really not that expensive, once my shoes wear out.

aluminum clutches aren't softer than carbon. the reason people are telling you to stay away from the aluminum shoes is that they are more maintenance. they develop an aluminum burr, it "mushrooms" over the edges and gets caught up on the clutchbell. this will f'up your tune and just wont run right. shave the burrs. it really isn't a big deal, but some people prefer to not continually maintenance clutches.

i've tried the fioroni sliding clutch, standard carbon, aluminum, and mugen white. aluminum clutches probably bite the hardest, but you have to maintenance more. the standard carbon is the most user friendly, next to the fioroni. the mugen white shoes have great bite, but wear fast. i used the fioroni on my c-5 cause i needed to get more bottom end. my c-5 has since been retired, and am currently using the mugen white, but that's just preference.

by the way, the fioroni works very well and is easy to install and maintenance.

if you decide to go w/ the aluminum, don't forget the springs still have an influence on clutch engagement. i'd start w/ 1.0 springs.

I haven't tried either yet, but as I was saying I have heard that the Kyosho are too soft. The Mugen aluminum shoes are harder than the Kyosho and therefore less maintenance. If you want to use the Mugen shoes with the K3 then you have to drill them out. To drill them out you can just run a drill bit through them by hand as it is a small difference in size (can't remember off the top of my head).
