Buggy Tyres
Hi 1/8 buggy comrades.
Don't know about you but tyres are really expensive for me, and i go thru alot of them. I tend to be restricted to pin tyres if i want to be competitive. When i put new tyres on my buggies and run them for a few laps, the shine is off the tyres. After a hard day or a couple of days the pins are worn down. To stay competitive and one has to put new pin tyres on. Otherwise the buggy slides like #&%@. Just wondering what you guys do for tyres. Like me do you go thru 4 tyres a weekend - because that's expensive. I use crimefighters. i try to use XTR so they last a bit longer. other tyres i've used are duratrax 8200 spike tyres. KYOSHO 1 |

Try using a couple of sets for qualifying only, and hold a couple of sets for the mains. If you want long life get the medium or hard compounds, but you will give up a little traction with them. Just like everything else with racing, it's a give and take.

And I have done that! lol - the stock tires went to hell in one tank on pavement. I love running the knuckles all the way around. On/off road and they hold up pretty darn well. I dont run Races at the track, but I do run on a bmx track and they hold their own. I just have to adjust the suspension accordingly. As for being competitive with medium compound pins??? Well, if you are racing, I suggest you get used to it. I dont know anyone that runs pins for the quals and the mains and walks away using them the following week. Just doesnt happen. But I guess it depends on how bad you want the victory. Like FlyinRazor said, use one set for qualifiers and another for the mains. Then at least you should get a couple of mains out of one set. Knuckles may be a good choice for the qualifiers. I dont know your track though. |
