New photo (Fioroni/Storm bulkhead)

Sorry to the moderators, I couldn't delete the other post as I was having problems with it. Special Thanks to nitromaniac for recommending a different image storing station. Anyways, here is the new Fioroni bulkhead brace on my Storm.

Looks good. Where'd you end up buying the part?

Also, deleted the other not so functional thread for you...

Neat. I've only seen it in that electric blue color though, any idea if it also comes in silver? I got almost all the RTR blue off my car and it looks really nice without it!

Of course, it doesn't *really* matter because you can't see it much with the cover on.. but still =)

Thanks SkyMaxx for getting rid of the other thread. Got it at Debbies (just like you said). I found out that they have alot of stuff that isn't in their online catalog. This part was one of them.

cbreaker - the Yellow can of EZ Off oven cleaner will strip the annodizing off of damn near anything. So even if a part doesnt come in natural silver, you can strip it down with ease. Hope this helps you

Hah, I didn't know that. That's good infoz =)

What does annodizing really do? It seems like it's just kinda like a translucent paint. Can you buy this paint yourself, or is it cooked on in an oven or something?

update: Okay I did a little research, and annodizing isn't painting, it's like a special electrical/chemical process that forms a special bond on the outside of the metal that's apparently as hard as diamonds.

I don't know if I'd want to strip off the annodizing; maybe I could just paint over it with a special paint =)

Anodizing is a chemical bonding process for aluminum. Its like a paint sorta, but more of a coating, like a powder coat. I know before you machine a piece, you cant have any anodize present, it eats up bits bad.

There isnt any paint that really bonds to aluminum like anodize, you need a chemical process Stripping it does no harm though, its not like its gonna rust or anything

The bond may be as hard as diamonds, but that doesn't mean you can't scratch it. Anodized parts will take a scratch and show bare metal in its natural color. So does a pretty color with a bunch of silver scratches suit you? Or would you prefer a silver part with a bunch of silver scratches? It is all up to you.

Military Maxx, when it comes to pieces parts, Debbies has a ton. I think they might rival some of the online hobby shops if they posted everything they carry on their online catalog. Glad you got your part.

Anodize is a chemical process that actually corodes the surface of the aluminum. Once you rinse it off with water the anodising is corosion resistant. That is the real reason for anodizing- corosion resistance. Companies have just discovered that people like different colors so they sell it like that. There is also clear anodize which comes out the natural color of the aluminum. There is also hard coat anodizing, which I know very little about other than it is harder than the bare aluminum.
