For bashing, not for racing...
How fast and reliable is it?

That is a very tunable racer. It has many titles under it's belt and is race proven. NA another member here could attest to the durability but I do not own that model. That buggy is in the top 3 imo.

What is the LE version?

The one version I'm considering is the RTR.

I have the Eb4 S2 rtr version, works nicely, no problems at all yet. Im replacing the engine with a novarossi p5 (not that the rtr engine isnt that good but for racing a nova is nice :P ).It could also use some stiffer shock coils if you want to jump big ramps. If your only bashing I think the rtr model would suit you. For racing the S2 pro would be better because then you could buy a better engine/radio etc at the beginning instead of having to replace parts you already have as I have to do now that im racing.

I think the Eb4 S2 is a good buggy, perhaps underated but its one of the worlds best for less $$$ :P.

Your choice, my 2 cents
Smokey

Thanks for the above replies.

How does the Kyosho MP7.5 Readyset (w/ the pull cord engine) compare with the EB4 S2?

the eb4-s2 rtr is MUCH BETTER than the kyosho RTR - however, the kyosho Kanai III is much better than the Eb4-pro.

The eb4 i have is the same as the pro, only better with several more ergal parts.

I owned an EB4S2 during three years and is a very good car for the price they charge you, anyway the S2 has been in the marked for a long time, I don't think Thunder Tiger will wait to much to make a new buggy, the Kyosho rtr engine is a Piece of junk. I agree with Nitroaddict the EB4rtr is better than the Kyosho rtr but the PRO versions from Kyosho are better than the Thunder tiger ones, the weakest point from the EB4 are Shocks.

Thanks
I think I'm off to buy a EB4 S2.

I understand the non RTR versions of the Kyosho MP7.5 have some superior components, but given the price diference I'll prefer the Thunder Tiger (the Kyosho sport would work out 35% more expensive than the EB4S2 which is already a strech for me...)

As I understand it the diference of the standart EB4S2 to the PRO version are all the Ergal components. How much do these make a diference (considering I'm not into racing)?

Taking the point of the shocks mentioned above, which ones would be a good upgrade?

Having realiability as a paramount aspect, I would like to install a cooling head, it comes OEM with a small one, with vertical fins. Will I have to buy a Thunder tiger cooling head, or does any .21 fit? Where can I get them from?

How much diference does K&N air filters and tuned pipes do?
Again would I have to get a Thunder Tiger tuned pipe, or are there other manufactures' that would fit?

I'm not going to start upgrading straight away, but it would be nice to know the possibilities; hence the above questions..

Thanks

I've got a friend running an S2-LE also.

While it's an alright buggy, that's capable on the racetrack - they do break, and EB4 parts support isn't the best around the place these days. The design is also ageing, and the king-pin design hubs, it's not the strongest, and i've seen people going through knuckles fairly easily.

If you've got good part support where you live, and your limited to it because of money or whatever, it would be a decent buggy. But for bashing, personally i'd take something that's going to round off the hits a little better, without needing trips to the lhs.

Being honest, a higher end 7.5 would be the best choice for rough bashing, a regular or better, preferably a Kanai. If they're out of your price range, there's great deals going on ebay and other private sales all the time - just gotta keep your eye out. I just picked up a neat condition K2 roller with one piece pipe and a few hopups for us400... getting sent to me this monday. (thats cheap for me btw, they cost a lot more here than there)

If you prefer something new, I think the Lightning Pro would be great too, and the price difference is huge. You can get a pro with engine/pipe/manifold included for $289 at rcboyz.com. If you want a link, just ask. That's a great cheap kit, with decent quality gear, and great 7075 bits all over - and there's also a LOT of parts compatibility with Kyosho parts, so if anything ever breaks, you could just drop the K bits on if you wanted.

to answer some of your questions...
the ERGAL bits on the Pro/LE are stronger material, sometimes thicker etc - and would be a good idea for bashing, where you need to soak up the hits and upside downers. For shocks - a set of K2 ones off ebay would be your best bet, or (just to keep the other camp happy ) some mugen bigbores would be good too. Provided they fit, they *should*.

K&N filters are stupid and not suitable for RC use, do whatever engine you get a favour and DO NOT use them. For tuned pipes, it depends on the engine you have - usually a pipe matching engine brand will work best.

I'd still reccomend you get that lightning pro instead at least, it's really worth a look (decent shocks, ok engine with big cooling head, included tuned pipe/header, very good alloys, decent plastics etc) - and I think in this day and age, it's a better car than the ol EB4's.

Cheers

Hey

I did have a look at the lightning pro as uDi_MP7.5 said, but it would work out 30% more cash...

I'm now a proud owner of a EB4 S2S2
