air cleaners and OS 20E carb needle settings

Merry Christmas to me! My OS 20E carb was in the mailbox when I got home from work. Needle settings as delivered were 3 out from bottom on HSN and 3 turns in from flush (2 1/8 turns out from bottom) on LSN. Since this was a used carb, I decided to set the needles according to the run-in settings found on pages 16 & 20 in the OS .21RG manual. This would be 3 turns out from the bottom on the HSN and 1 turn in from flush (this happens to be 4 1/8 turns out from bottom) on the LSN. The manual can be found HERE. Are these the starting settings everybody else has used when running the OS 20E carb on the Hyper 21 8 Port? My engine has just over 3/4 gallon of 20% through it, so I'm more than ready to tune for speed.

The carb came with the OS Super Air Cleaner. I like the size of the element, but unfortunately, the air cleaner body hits the inside of the car body. What air cleaners seem to be the hot setup on a Hyper 7? I am currently using the stock PBS cleaner that attaches to the bracket at the top of the RX box. The tube is rather soft and I've heard that it can actually temporarily collapse under high acceleration/vacuum conditions.

Oh, I almost forgot. This is on my Hyper 7.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Roy
