In my local Craigslist there seems to be a bunch of posts for Traxxas RC that are ridiculously under priced and only have an email in a "NameName(at)gmail" format. The email tends to be a version of a "generic" individual's name with a letter or 2 removed.

What I'm curious is, what do they stand to gain if 500 people email them trying to buy, for instance, a Slash 4x4 RTR for $160? Can they really extrude enough info from an email to do damage to someone? Or am I just missing something obvious?

Here's some examples:

Thoughts?

If it's too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true.

Its pretty simple to figure out. Just google the email address. It pops up ads for crap all over the country.

Ok, fine, but say you responded right now and said "Hey got cash in hand call or text me at 111-123-1234 so we can meet;" how did he scam you?

They sell your email address and phone number to people who can/will put you on call lists and spam the poop out if you.

I didn't realize men were capable of such evil.
