Got it out Sunday with some temps in the mid 60's and all the changes.
Definitely much, much better in overall driveability. I think the gearing change really tamed it some, and definitely the suspension adjustments helped. Still some work to do there though. Power is just off the chain...
Our first TnT was this past weekend. It was cold, and we had problems with the tree (turned out to be a faulty powerstrip of all things), but we gave it a go. Two guys blew engines!
Couple of things worked against me, but the cold was the primary issue. Aside from having a hell of time...
Yeah no kidding. I read back through this thread and see how many times I had it "better than ever", and then I discover some other thing. Constantly evolving and learning for sure.
Yessir. After this season, I believe it's going to be the norm in the Nitro Street Eliminator classes. Either that or banned, lol.
Well, it wasn't an empty box. So, I got to breaking the bad boy in Saturday morning. Much like the T1204 .12, it was tight. Real tight. Had to heat the thing...
Man, RCWillpower has OS R2104 9port on-road engines for practically half price.
After my experience with the T1204 in Hissed Off, I'm pretty well sold on true race engines for this sport. The Hyper 30T has been good, but since I used the backup engine for the OG Invader, maybe it's time to...
I put the engine back together over the weekend and fired it up in my garage. Wanted to test out the big nitrous bottle. (pic from another post here)
It's double the size of the little one, which definitely worked but after seeing how much that .12 jumped in power with the little one, I...
Got some testing in on Saturday, as it was 45-47 degrees. No sun though, so still a bit dodgey. Packed the truck up and headed to my test spot, one last test with the ceramic bearings in.
Used the black body out of thinking I don't want to demolish one of my good green ones. I knew that...
I wound up cutting the head down (had a spare just in case it didn't work). I only cut half of it off. After talking with some nitro-heads that was a suggestion to try first.
It still ran well and held its tune, even on a rather chilly 45-degree day. I was working with the OG Invader car to...
Yup, definitely those front wheels are light, though I have wrecked a few times and they survived while the ones in the rear got demolished. Lucky I guess!
I'm thinking of ordering another cooling head and cutting the top half off. I don't want to cut it all the way down because I've noticed...
Here are some pics of it. With the wheel ring change, it's 5.78 lbs now. If we get another warm day I'll try to post some videos, and this time not crash my drone. LOL.
One thing I could do is cut down the cooling head, but I really don't like how sensitive the engine becomes to mild...
Maybe ;) Couple of the other guys on the team want the systems too...
I don't think nitrous is a good application on something like that for the reason that I think it'll just burn the engine up. Nitrous Express and RB Innovations make nitrous systems that were used on MT's, throttle...
After all of the weight loss, the car weighed in at 5.83 lbs. That was nearly .6 lbs of weight shed! I even found some CF beadlock rings to replace the heavier alloy ones. Not a huge loss there (8gs) but it's rotating mass.
Got some orange anodized bolts coming in to replace the black...
Maryland. We've got about 10 guys on our team right now. There are large groups of nitro drag racers in the south and have been all along. IMDRA came back a couple years ago after being dormant a few years as well. Nitro groups in Texas too for years. Puerto Rico has a large group too...
Thanks!
Yeah, they sure did catch up, and I loved seeing it.
You're 100% right on the chute. It's dangerous to use, even with the hole cut out in the center. I really only used it in emergencies, like if my brakes were out of adjustment, or broken somehow, and that was not very often. It...
Whole bunch of updates on this car.
First, re-tooled the black body for an alternate style and functionality:
Less downforce, and presumably more top-end on a windy day. This was verified by a simple "wind tunnel" test.
Nitrous system installed:
I have deleted the trans brake, and more...
