Thanks for the info. I was going to pick one up from gcm since they did great work on all the esavage parts but I am thinking a 2s and a backed off slipper is the most practical.
Here is a link for the gcm stuff

Yeah but if I go vanquish I will get the axle, diff cup, truss and lockouts.
I guess if I knew for sure that would fix the problem it wouldn't bother me as much. Just don't want to spend the money to find out that the only solution is a backed off slipper.
Installed the new gears and they are better but I heard them skip today when it landed a jump on the rear tires at around 75% throttle. Disappointing.
Gonna back the slipper off for now.
Times like this I miss the bombproof savage.
I am running whatever came in the rtr kit. I ordered the HD gearset for it so hopefully that plus some shims will keep it together.

Little disappointed that they stripped with so little runtime on it. Maybe I will keep the 3S for the 4x4...
Installed the MIP rear shaft and gave it a run today. I hammered it from a stand still and she twisted all up, launched and two seconds later I heard the rear diff skipping like a snare drum.
Off to buy parts...... I may need to switch to 2S
My son split two more stock driveshafts so I went ahead and ordered the MIP replacement. Hoping to get it installed this weekend and test it out. Looks solid just like everything that MIP makes.
I am using dry lube for bike chains and it works pretty good. I used some 40wt shock oil today as well as some red wing boot oil. :). All of them kept joint temp down.
No doubt about it, friction on the rear joint is the source of the heat.
My boy split a brand new rear shaft today. Next...
First breakage. I blame it entirely on the insane heat the rear driveshaft is generating. Nearly burned my finger on that rear joint! Had to be 170+. Need to investigate
Nothing at all. Gave it a slow test drive to make sure the drivetrain was smooth. It all looked and felt great so I gave the "trigger" to my son for a a full 3S pack. Some decent scrapes on the skids but no failures
Still haven't run this thing! I charged the battery, and let it go a few feet on the hotel carpet. Weather has been pretty bad and i didn't want to get it too nasty on its maiden voyage. :)
Might just save it and let the kiddo's break it in for me.
Still looking at parts so...
