The shaving soap has been alright, but I think I'm going to be placing an order this week from Amazon for TOBS Sandalwood shaving cream as well as some Geo F Trumper skin food (after shave lotion).
@SchrodeMode let me know how you like the TOBS creams. I have been using the TOBS sandalwood shaving cream and have liked very well. But just picked up some shaving soap and have used it twice since I got it the other day and have liked it just as well but really like the aftershave feeling.
Oh I didn't realize ToOS had shaving soaps. I have their cream and proraso red (also a cream ;) ) and have been happy with them but keep hearing how much better soaps are in every way.
Personna blades are my choice blades at the moment. I've tried several brands but right now Personna is what...
That's awesome, so I'm not the only crazy one. I tell people that since I've switched that I actually look forward to shaving and enjoy it. Those still using the cartridges look at me like I'm crazy.
I typically do either 2 or 3 passes. If I'm doing 2 passes I do it with the grain (top to down) then against the grain (bottom to up). If I'm doing 3 passes I do the same as 2 but in between I go side to side.
For me the with the grain gets a nice shave and then against the grain gives me the...
I've heard the Proraso red shaving soap is good for sensitive skin. I have the Proraso red cream and it does a good job, but I like the Taylor of Old Bond Street better.
@SMaxxin - great choice on the Progressive. A VERY popular razor. I wouldn't go crazy on trying a bunch of adjustments right away. But it sounds like you're off to a great start and it only gets better!
@vbgagnon - I had the same issue with my neck. I'd always have 3,4,5,6 ingrown hair bumps...
Speaking of which: Gillette Adjustable (one is as low as $30, but you need to act quick - 30mins left) and Merkur Progressive.
They sound more dangerous than they really are. There isn't much to them and you'll get a far better shave than any cartridge you've tried before.
Seen then before but it's still the same old crappy multi blade setup. Really try DE shaving and you'll never want another multi razor cartridge setup again.
@SMaxxin, HPIGuy is certainly right about liking to shave. I hated it with a passion before, now I look forward to shaving. Which...
Ohh man, I can't speak for anyone else but DE shaving it like a whole other hobby almost. You can quickly get wrapped up in it and all the goodies it has to offer.
For me I switched because I was tried of paying $20-25 for replacement cartridges that didn't last but just a few shaves each. When...
