This would be done by now if I just had a receiver that would work 🤬
Got the motor mounted with a 12t pinion. Also finished chroming the wheels today and got the wheelie bar mounted.
Got the Hot Racing gearbox installed and installed some different rear shocks with a shortened length and stroke by way of 3d printed spacers inside and out.
If using the Hot Racing metal transmission case with the RPM wheelie bar/bumper mount, the short 3mm spacer goes here...
And I would...
Got some stuff in to finish this build, thanks to my brotha from anotha motha - Greywolf. He had a Tekin Eliminator 4.5T motor and an RX8 lying around, so I got those off him to try out in this.
I also got a Hot Racing aluminum gearbox. We're upgrading it before we even drive it 😜
Also...
Hope to get it finished today. Going to go tear it all down one final time and put it back together with all the proper setup and screws. Right now it's just holding together with a few screws.
Still have to setup the front suspension, toe, camber, etc, and I need to order some new rear shocks...
If I could get a better area to spray, I could do a better job. I think I am going to move the spray booth back to the other room. Just need better lighting in there.
I need to lower the shocks a bit on front and rear.
A few fatal flaws, but it was a helluva learning experience. I didn't get enough candy on the roof of the car, so the flames are a little pink. I'll try harder next time.
Got the body candied with Createx Blood Red and starting on the flames.
Need to make some more stenciles and will get more done tomorrow. Back is killing me!
All the trim is painted. Not as chromey as I'd hoped, but it's water-based paint. Looks good enough. Couple little blems to take care of, but pretty happy overall.
Because the chrome needs a black backer for one. You start with your dark colors first.
Plus, masking the bumpers would require a lot more finicky twists and turns with tape, and a lot of fine trimming. The way I have done this is just run around the outside of the details with fine line...
After closer inspection while doing some masking today, I don't care for the way they have the window trim molded in on this body. It looks like the mold was finished by a toddler. Lines that should be there to create the edges of the trim are choppy, fade into nothing, then fade back in, etc...
Yeah it's an awesome rendition for sure. I want to get the '69 Nova as well some day. The builds I have seen with it have looked amazing. But I'm a Ford guy, so we had to go with this one first.
After seeing this in person though, I can't wait to see the Pinto 😉
Got the '67 Mustang body trimmed and holes marked and slightly reamed for our stash build. Also printed up some rear mounts for the Pro-Line body mount kit to angle the mount back 5° to better match the window profile. I also lowered the mount about 5mm. Gonna finish sanding the edges today and...
