    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Man, it's been a year already. I haven't done much with it but the second motor ended up giving out a few months ago. I think the few times I ran it at the end of my deployment let enough of that powder sand in and finally killed it. I looked it over and it'll need a set of screws and bearings...

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Just ordered some 32p gears, 54t spur along with 9t and 12t pinions. I'll try those with the 3s lipo I threw in the order, if they ship it. If that doesn't work, I'll just go back to brushed because I also went with my original plan and ordered a 27t Axial motor. Seriously though, this is my...

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

20/80 right now, it's the stock setup. I'm looking into throwing some 32p gears in it, that should open up some more gearing options. I'll see what I can do.

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

It's stock gearing right now, I don't remember what that is though. I was thinking it would be too slow with the 2900kv motor, I almost ordered larger pinions. I had updated the firmware before running it, I'll look into tuning it more with the Castle Link. I may just have to wait until I get...

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

That's just trying to go, I have to ease onto the throttle or else it just stutters. It looks like a dog humping a leg if I try crawling up something. I figured I wouldn't be able to crawl anymore, but I was hoping to be able to play around in the sand a little.

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Got it all finished up, I tried it out and it cogs so bad. I think it's time to box it up and send it home early.

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Well I got it mostly done, I just need to run the servo and lights wires then close up the rx box. Oh yeah, I also have to wait another week or 2....I didn't order a servo horn because the Hitec came with an aluminum one, too bad it's mounting hole is too small for the bolt on my steering link...

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

I'm hoping the "Like" of my previous post means my wiring is correct. I should be getting my servo today, and hopefully I'll be able to get it wired up and put back together tonight. Where have you Wraith owners stuffed your BECs? I'm planning on putting mine behind the dash, at least for now...

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Still no servo, and we don't get mail on Fridays, hopefully I get it before I'm off on Monday. I think I've got this wired up right, I've disconnected the positive wire of the quick connect's "connect to rx" lead. That should be taking the place of the ESC's positive wire, if I wasn't using...

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

My ESC, BEC, and Castle Link Quick Connect arrived today. Now I'm just waiting on my servo. Quick question about wiring the BEC and Quick Connect though. You're supposed to disconnect the positive wire from the rx plug of the ESC when using the BEC. Being as I'm using the Quick Connect, I just...

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Anyone have suggestions on what gearing I should be looking at after I throw the 2900kv Vanguard system in it?
  12. SchrodeMode

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

I should've called it Bombproof. All of the work I do on it is in our Bombdump, and that's where it gets driven. I need to get some pics of it on some bombs.

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Okay, I lied. Looks like I'm going brushless, I just won a Vanguard setup.

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

I've been looking at them, I'll probably get one when I return home. I'm just going to grab a "disposable" one for now, I can get a 27t Axial for $12 shipped. I didn't put much time on the stock motor, I'd hate to spend the money on a good one just to have it die a quick death.

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

I've always seen the Titans burn out faster than a drunken Vegas marriage. Wouldn't the 12T have less TQ, and therefore burn up faster than the stock 20T? I'm thinking about grabbing one of Axial's 27T motors, or maybe another 20T, with some gearing options.

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Killed my servo this morning. I'm pretty sure my motor is about shot as well, it got super hot and is now hard to push. I'm about to grab a Hitec 5995 TG as a replacement, along with a CC 10 amp BEC. Any suggestions on a cheap motor to get me by until I'm back home? I'm in a super hot, sandy...

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Yeah, I think bearings would be necessary if I was running a brushless setup.
  18. SchrodeMode

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

The pinion bearings on the axles, especially the rear, are about shot. I had read that running bushings instead of bearings is a good idea, so I ordered a set, the reasoning is the fact that a bushing will almost never fail. With bushings you'll likely notice play developing before it's enough...

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

Got my wheels mounted up, I don't think they're too bad...especially for under $45 shipped. It would be nice if they were SLW compatible, but they seem to be a decent set of budget/beater wheels.
  20. SchrodeMode

    SchrodeMode's Axial Wraith

I ordered them right before your post @hamz9561. I had seen some people talking about them being pretty good, but they didn't have any specs about the hardware or if they were compatible with the SLW hubs. I ordered them before going to bed, and when I woke up, there was a reply saying that they...
