Was it the plastic or aluminum cover? I noticed jennysrc has the 'ultimate' xmaxx parts which have alum. covers. I think the plastic covers flex and work loose. I haven't had a reoccurance since switching to alum.

I've been running the 2085X with the upgraded spring for about a year now and no issues. Has survived half a dozen skate park sessions on some heavy duratrax Sixpack tires too. Not super fast but seems pretty tough.
