Alright, been a minute since I updated over here. The 1/24 pan car has been pulled from my cults listings.. The intent was always to replace it with a race legal 1/28 platform when I was happy with the performance from the design. The 1/28 design was released back in May. Just now staring to get...
alright guys , sorry this took a while ,after losing my R/C youtube channel I had to re-edit all the raw footage back into a coherent assembly guide for the 1/24 pan cars. You tube seems to leave my music channel alone so I am setting up playlists over there for my R/C content.. heres a link...
Alright guys , I have been quiet because I have been testing my 1/36 ball differential rear axle design for the 1/36 pan car.. It uses 8- 2mm balls in a 32 t spur gear .. The diff uses a pair of printed TPU pads to provide some spring rate for adjustment. At the core of the axle is a M3 x 60 cap...
First laps with the 1/24 pan car.. Still a spooled rear end , no differential so I have to blip the throttle the break the rear end free it get it to rotate through the hairpins, but as you can see , the guy moves out quite nice on 1s !! Run times on the 300 mah battery are well over 30 minutes...
My oldest and I also raced them in the mid 2000's.. same here. Nothing like spending more on a steering gear set than it costs for 2 complete servos.. Or $12 for a plain old mabuchi 130 motor that you can get for a couple bucks a piece elsewhere , but arent legal to run because it didnt come in...
Its really more an issue with room under the shell , I probably should be using a micro receiver, which has a shorty antenna, but those are $35 just for the receiver when the one I used is $8 ..
I have a roller ready for electronics.. I am still waiting on my ball diff parts to arrive so I have a solid spool in its place for the time being .. I can't finish designing the diff until I have the actual parts in hand for final measurements..Looks like I will have the car built and driving...
files for both the 1/24 pan and 1/24 top fuel are posted to my Cults page already , so anybody with a printer can have a go at it. I plan on doing the same for this little guy as soon as I get all the kinks worked out.. Just search CSRC on cults and it will pull up all my designs..
I had a ton of fun developing the 1/24 pan car .. I was going to scale it up to 1/18 , and still plan to , but for now I want a bit more of a challenge so I decided to go the other way and take the micro pan car concept smaller to 1/36 scale.. I am waiting on the ball diff components to arrive...
Happy Monday guys! I figured I would link to the build video on the pan car for those who like to see the build process.. So here is the entire build process , from building the rear axle to taking laps..
Yeah the speed run car moves out!! Thats a 1410 size 9500 Kv on 3s geared at 3.33:1 FDR.. I know its possible to hit 70 , but my issue is getting tires to hold together past the 65.2 you see in the video.. and that pair of tires is already custom made to withstand that.. They are some 1/24 drag...
Thanks guys , I am really glad I found this forum , you guys have a good bit of cool stuff happening here! Last bit of eye candy for the day is some video of one of my 1/24 drag cars hitting a 65.2 mph GPS confirmed pass.. just printed out of standard old PLA + BTW..
as a Machinist I fought printing parts for WAY too long.. It was new stuff to learn so it was scary.. after I got my feet wet and realized how much easier it is than machining , oh it was ON!! I have even printed Molds for casting tires at this point.. LOL a few years ago I would have spent a...
I agree. This project has only taken me about 2 months via printing .. It makes prototyping so fast !!Previous to getting my printers I was prototyping via machining with a CNC router and lathe..
