Yeah, I reckon a lot of my previous diff issues stemmed from using it a lot on bitumen with big sticky road rage tyres & a slight love for wheelstands.
It mostly lives on dirt now & stuff breaks a whole lot less!
Good to see some guys still have their Revo's, I never see any others, just...
Back from the dead with the big block revo that cannot be killed!
Shelved it again for a while due to the ongoing 'exploding slipper gear' issue & the 'busted rear diff' issue, bought a mini erevo brushless to take out with the kids.
A neighbour asked me what happened to that noisy...
So I got this all back together & up & running.
The hot racing slipper conversion is a good thing.
Finally got a chance to take it out yesterday & after some faffing around with the tune had a ball at a BMX track - forgot how well this thing jumps & how much grunt it has!
Finished the day after...
Just ordered a new radio (cheaply flysky), hot racing HD slipper & hot racing 38t steel spur gear.
Dug around in the shed & turned up a low usage lrp piston, rod & sleeve (win!) so I pulled down the losi 454, ran it all through the ultrasonic cleaner & popped it back together with the newish...
My poor ol losi 454 in my revo is flat worn out, pricing up the bits to rebuild it properly (piston & sleeve, front & rear bearings) comes out not much short on the cost of a new one.
I'm on a tight budget, I know the losi is a rebadged LRP .28 spec 3 - which in turn is made by SH engines, so I...
Long time since I was on here!
Revo is in a sad pile of dusty bits at the moment, starting to gather stuff to get it back together.
It shat yet another RRP slipper, the losi 454 had finally cried enough (still running just fine, but low comp & no grunt at low rpm - she's toast) & while it was...
I've got a TRX mount on mine, works fine, you need to trim a little from the top suspension arm to clear a pull start or rotostart.
Use a good 1/8 clutch - I run a Werks clutch, but a Losi8 clutch will also work.
My frankenRevo is still my only RC, never seen the need to get anything else, it does everything I want & can take a beating.
Most would consider it a big $ truck, carbond fibre chassis, big block, rpm everything, RRP gears, steel axles etc etc - almost no stock TRX parts on it.
But I don't...
Tank was a hyper 1/7 - the lids do leak, but I made up a new seal arrangement that fixes it, so I'll just switch that over to a new tank.
Front & rear suspensions are both done & fitted up bar shocks - gotta get some shock oil, I'm all out.
Electronics & servo's mostly fitted up.
Waiting...
TRX big block mount, shift the trans forward & make some custom length driveshafts (or buy telescoping shafts).
I used a buggy header & bent it a little to clear the body & roll cage.
You'll need to use something like a losi 8 clutch & savage clutch bell.
I run a werks clutch - it's the only...
I reckon I've got enough new or near new bearings to get most of it done without pirating the other revo.
Got the trans & diffs done last night, 2nd gear bearing in the trans was about to disintegrate, the spring in the dog clutch was dead & the output gear pin was busted - that'll explain the...
Yup, that cheap ass losi 454 hauls ass with the turbo head conversion & ERCM pipe on 30% race juice.
When it's flogged out I'll just grab another one & throw my turbo head on it, they are cheap enough on ebay to be looked at as a consumable.
Bill - just chipped the drive cup, axle must have...
And another big hit shrugged off the the CF chassis - sideways into a steel pole at high speed, fuel tank exploded in a shower of fuel, lug on the chassis copped a direct hit & has blue paint from the pole on it to prove it.
Chassis is fine:
Rebuild time again!
I machined up a slipper clutch setup that uses the RR base & pad & accepts TRX style hardened steel gears - works well & the regular steel gears are holding up heaps better than the RR ones.
Out bashing a couple of weeks ago I carwheeled the thing for what must have...
I'm sold on the C/F chassis, mine has taken hit that would have pretzled a stock ally chassis - I'd know, I've bent a couple of them.
I ran straight into a gutter obscured by grass at 30+mph, car launched into the air & barrel rolled, the impact tore the front diff clear out, smashed the...
I'm currently running a Losi 454 (rebadged LRP .28) with a turbo head conversion, buggy header & ERCM pipe.
Real happy with this engine, I have previously run a picco .28 team turbo & novarossi .28 5 port - the Losi does not have as much grunt down low, which is good, it doesn't eat the...
Got it all fixed up again & out a while back - stripped another RR slipper.
I've come to the conclusion that they are just sh|t metal, clutch bell gears are always fine, just the slipper gear chews up.
So I've turned up an adaptor on the lathe to run the RR slipper pad & back plate but with a...
Had this out last night & beat on it like a redhead stepson, it was still driving just fine after a couple of hours of complete abuse.
I bent the crap out of the rollcage & finished off the road rage tyres - bald now, started out with decent tread.
A mate had an ERCM pipe off his race Losi 8 -...
That's the wierd thing, I've only got Revo parts!
Where the hell did it all come from? - I don't remember buying 1/2 the stuff in those boxes.
I did put together another revo 3.3 out of spares, just needs a steering servo - that's for my eldest.
I sat down last night determined to make some sort of order in the boxes of RC bits in the shed.
How long could it possibly take I thought.
3 hours later & I'd barely scratched the surface LOL, 3 big boxes of parts in no order whatsoever became 1 box of parts bagged, tagged & sorted & 2...
