On my savage I went from a 17T Bell to 15T bell and from 47T Spur to a 52T Spur and it now has a slower top end, I had to adjust my 2nd gear shift point.
Reading the manual with a 15T Bell and 52T Spur it is easier on the engine, less strain.

Some extra glow plugs, just be sure of the temperature plug compared to which % fuel you use from what I have read.
If it is rust and you get it to break free or clean it I am sure the surfaces will have corrosion on them. I can't see the engine lasting too long, something is going to wear out faster.
As for the Spur Gear I just bought the Savage X4.6 and it does wobble. I watched the video about adjusting the gear mesh in the thread about what to do before running a RTR car and even in the video is shows the Spur gear with a wobble so I figured this must be common.

HPI is sending a new set, I called the shop and they said $2.40 each so I think I will pick up a set from the store instead of waiting and when the extra set comes I will have it on hand just incase.

I had a set already gernade, it seemed premature but I am positive the backlash was set improperly from the factory which in turn being new to the hobby I did not know it should have been checked before the first run. It went about 5 tanks of fuel before they were adjusted (it was too tight) and...
