At the Nürnberg Toy Fair HPI has released news of their latest 1/5th scale car. The HPI Baja 5R 1/5th scale on-road car. Based off the ever popular HPI Baja platform the HPI Baja 5R is equipped with a lowered suspension, 5mm thick aluminum chassis, vintage 8-spoke wheels and Tarmac Buster tires and topped off with a 1970 Ford Boss Mustang body!...

Looks great..
It's a RTR, so we all know upgrades are needed..
Slap on a 25.4 or 27.2 modded top end kit, a tuned pipe as a start.
2 speed it would be ideal..
Clear body would be a good feature tho..

I like it, my next 5th scale might just be another HPI product now.

I really hope they'll offer an alternative to the Mustank body

So is it safe to say someone can just buy the onroad suspension and just convert their current baja?

^^ oh! that would be sweet....there's little more than duct tape keeping so parts of my 5sc lid together, and it could do with a face lift.

I'm thinking it might be a bit more involved with different body mounts and the like.

Looks like the body mounts are the same as the 5t

I believe this one has a flat chassis, no kick-up in the front.
