That's a Jato? Man that thing looks cool. Are the hubs custom made?

Yep, that's a Jato. The hubs are just the upgrades that Traxxas offers, I've heard their aluminum is pretty good and I got them all at good prices. Here are some pics from when I got it, paid $40 for the Jato and the dust/mystery crap came free.

That's one hell of a transformation. I bet its gonna be a lot of fun to drive.

I started digging through my RC room and I ended up finding a few things for the Jato. I had my Dynamite .19 sitting on the shelf, so that'll be in there with the THS pipe (thanks to @sv250) for a little while. I also found a mounted set of tires for it along with new front/rear shock towers and body mount. I still have to get my Dremel out though, the THS pipe doesn't line up with the body's stock exhaust cutout so I'll extend back a little further.

That pic doesn't bother me at all. That's not dirt, it's FUR!!!
Doesn't have to be cleaned, just brushed occasionally. :hehe:

That was her 80s porn star look, she's now clean shaved and ready for the summer.

Man I forgot how nice that little Dynamite engine is, it's been sitting for about a year and a half and it's running like a champ in the Jato. I had to retune it and that's about it, I went easy on it for the first couple tanks just to free up any trace fuel that may have gummed up over the time it sat and now it's screaming. I also figured out that I had the shift point too loose, this was causing it to be in 2nd gear so soon that I never noticed it shift.

I ordered a set of Summit shocks, I'll obviously be replacing the springs when they get here but I mainly got them for the aluminum bodies anyway.

New shocks, these springs are extremely stiff. I'll be putting the stock springs on for now and then adjust as needed.

I finally checked the speed of this thing, I strapped my phone to it and did a couple passes. When I was checking my phone against my cars speedometer, the phone was about 2 mph slower. After my passes with the Jato, my phone had logged a top speed of 52.76, so I guess I'm looking around 55mph. Not too shabby for a cheapo Dynamite engine strapped to a "budget" Jato.

@53 mph is pretty respectable for what you have. Good starting point.

Speed is money. How fast do you want to spend it? :)

I could probably squeeze a little more out of it if I played with gearing, I'm not even sure what I'm running on it right now. I'll also have to look into something a little more accurate for getting my speed readings. I'm trying to keep this as a "budget" build right now, I'll have to figure what I have into it right now. Way less than you would think, it's been sitting for a while now and I've just been getting parts for it during that time. Everything has come from ebay, I'd set my max bid at well under retail and if I got, I got it, if I didn't, I didn't.

Well, it was an expensive day today. The inner bearing went on my Dynamite .19, locked the engine up and had metal shards on the piston. I also put a hole in the block of my 3.3 when my Rustler landed upside down, that's now my 3rd engine to get a hole in the block.

Hoping wworks out for us....good luck[DOUBLEPOST=1409355399][/DOUBLEPOST]Also it looks really good keep up the good work

Just checkin out your project. Looks good! I can see I have a long way to go on my project build. REALLY like those carriers! Goin on my Christmas list for sure!

Thanks man. I've been trying to keep this a "budget" build, I've lucked out with ebay and have been able to get the upgrades for pretty cheap. I'm down to one working small block (3.3) engine now, so I'll throw it in the Jato for around the house "light bashing"/on-road, and then I'll put it in my Rusty for real bashing.

I never set a price limit on my build.. Everything I do goes over budget, its just gonna take a while to get the parts bought! The wife stays home and we still have a youngin in diapers... So extra money is hard to find. But my boys love "helpin" me out with the trucks..

I've never had an actual "build" per say, so I've never set a budget. I haven't come up with an actual plan for the Jato yet, but I know they're not known for their durability so an all out basher isn't in the works. It's taken this one over 2 years to get to it's current stage, I would just get on eBay and place a low bid and wait. If I won, cool, but I wasn't concerned if I didn't.

All this talk about Jato projects makes me wanna try to convert one to electric and make it 100+MPH >: )
