Opening day at Pit Stop was fun! I didn’t do very well position wise but I made a lot of improvement over the course of the day. The rhythm section was my nemesis. I just couldn’t get through it cleanly until the mains. With the wheeler I got through the whole 8 minute main with only one marshaling. Still slow but clean. The mini truggy was another story lol. Learning a new track and a brand new build… I was chasing setup all day. Conditions were less than ideal too. It was cold and really windy. The 2wd SCT’s were getting blown off course. I was able to catch some cool short videos when I had some downtime in the pits.

Looking forward to next time. Probably three weeks.

Edit to add: @hood52 I was hitting the triple with the truggy pretty regularly! Been wanting to clear that thing for a while now.

Yea they really keep it nice. The owner is real cool and track crew know what they’re doing. Next time I’m bringing my little bbq grill to make some lunch that’s better than sandwiches from the gas station nearby. 😂
Heck yeah!

Or marshal 🤔🤣

Racing requires to much fussing with the car to get it tuned perfect for the track, I'm far to lazy for that.
For me. I usually stick around stock kit setups. Since I had a dirt spec kit, for carpet racing I had some things to change. But I just recently switched back to almost stock kit setup on my car and it was driving great when I was at Beach RC. You also have ESC and radio and motor tuning / adjustments as well. My uncle's older XB4 from Xray, he changed nothing from the stock kit setup. He says it's dialled, for him, out of the box. Obviously for carpet. But for dirt, all that he did was add ride height and sent it. Not the most ideal but it worked. Trying to get him to fix up his car and get new batteries. Recommending the cheap CHNL ones for him as they are the cheapest out there for the quality. He is a carpet guy. But I'll try to drag him to race indoor dirt.

Or marshal 🤔🤣
You really want @Doom! out there?! I would let him be the waterboy

Pit Stop this weekend! Supposed to be Friday night but the weather is iffy at best. I hope they push till Saturday. The whole program feels less rushed on Saturdays. I’m bringing all three but I only plan to run two. Depends on if it setup changes I made actually make the T6.4 better or not and also what classes are the fullest. All packed up and ready to roll from work tomorrow.

Hopefully I can find some time for the rc10 this weekend too.

It’s race day! About to throw on some shoes and head to the track. Should be a full house. They’re running vintage and monster trucks today. I’ll be running the RC10 in vintage and the monster trucks are going to be a sight! When I heard monster trucks I was thinking Clodbusters and USA1’s. It’s actually going to be XMAXX’s an Kraton 8s’. Chaos will happen I have no doubt.

Wow. The heat and the sun wiped me out yesterday. I got to my parents house after and basically fell asleep immediately on the couch in the air conditioning 😂. The racing was pretty sweet though! As usual I didn’t place very well but definitely made some progress in both my car setups and my driving skills.

The b74.1 was pretty much perfect all day. Swapped tires around for changing track conditions throughout the day but otherwise all I needed to do with it was charge the battery.

The ET410.2 however DNF’d in both of my qualifiers putting me at the back of the pack for the mains. What happened was I took a HARD landing square on the roof in Q1 and it just shut off. I assumed I had knocked a battery plug loose. I checked it out when I got to the pits and there didn’t seem to be anything wrong. Hit the power button and it came right back to life. In Q2 no crash but on lap 3 it just shut off again. I looked a bit deeper into it and found the center connection on the ESC to receiver wire had pulled out of the plug just enough that it was barely making contact with the pin in the receiver. I tightened it up and all was good in the main. I managed to work my way up to 3rd 🥉so I was happy with that!

The RC10 40th was ok right out of the gate. It was quite good in the corners, plenty of steering. Problem was it wouldn’t jump worth a damn. Landings were super hard and sometimes it would just barrel roll off the lip of the jumps. Two of the other vintage racers who turned out to be Jason Csontos and Mark Baldwin from RC10talk offered some suggestions and ultimately made a few setup changes for me that made a big difference. Turns out I had the lower shock eyes on the front backwards and it was limiting the up travel quite a bit and there was too much droop in the rear which was causing the dog bones to bind against the rear arms in the air. They also suggested I go up from the 30wt kit shock oil to 35wt or even 37.5. The other issue I had was ball-cups. I figured they’d be an issue when I was building the kit and I was right. Every time the car was on track I had at least one pop loose. I had already ordered some proper turnbuckles and B6 style cups and studs they just didn’t get here in time, so next time out that should be remedied. I was very happy with it for the first day out though.

I didn’t get to take a lot of pics cause I was running 3 classes and the schedule had me back to back race/marshal/race/marshal/race/marshal. Here’s a few that I snapped during the day.
